This is I belive the first of the X246 series (I'm willing to be proved wrong DJG) produced for less than a year maybe 6 months (Conjecture),
This tank was produced from 1946 to 1949, stated as producing 300cp.
The handle attaches via a ring/button with only one ring made from thin brass for holding the glass. The frame is screwed directly in to the tank.
also a shorter handle than later models.

These lanterns are first of the X246 series, and were produced from 1946 to 1950, stated as producing 300cp.
The handle attaches via a loop and the frame has changed to the frame that is more like the modern version. And the hood turns to the brown that is like the black model that is still in use today
